This N-Moluccan sultan was before the only monarch here, who really an area of his own to rule as a civil ruler. For a time he was that in nearby W-Halmaheira.
He didn't play a choosing role really in previous rivalry in the N-Moluccans.
Before Bacan was the most powerfull sultanate of the N-Molucans, later succeeded by Ternate.

Dear all;
Before on the island there were 2 rulers:the one of Ombacan and the one of Labuha.Both having their residence on another peninsula of bacan.Because of many attacks of the kingdom of Tidore,the raja of Ombacan had to flee with his people to the Labuha area,wehere he put his people un der the ruler of the ruler of Labuha.The latter from then on began to call himself the Sultan of Bacan.
