The last heir to the crown died end 17th century, then only the dynasty had some minor role in the area under the Sultan of Ternate.

When the rivalries in N-Moluccans began the big the Sultan of Ternate proposed to restore the social system of the 4 kingdoms of the N-Moluccans: Moloku Kie Raha. So this highest representative of the dynasty; a former armyofficer in Riau and descended from the last exiled Sultan was made sultan.
In 2008 the government wants to restore the palace of the Sultan in Soakonara.

In april 2009 he also tried for the national parliament in the jailolo area,but he didn't was succesfull.That was of course because he only was active in local politics the last 2 years.So he wasn't rooted enough into local politics.
So not enough to go already to the national parliament as representative of his people.But for sure later this symphatic sultan will be able to serve later his peole in another way.
The sultan s of nearby Ternate and Tidore were that year succesfull to represent their people into the national parliament.
